| Abstract: | На основі архівних даних розкриті обставини спостереження, виявлення та подальшого дослідження метеориту «Жигайлівка». Установлено, що в період між 1787 (дата падіння метеориту) та 1804 (дата початку дослідження «громового каменю») метеорит зберігався в приватній колекції, а надалі його частини досліджувалися (важення, виявлення хімічного складу, фізичних властивостей) науковцями як Академії наук в Петербурзі, так і професорами Харківського університету, що й було відображене в низці наукових публікацій ще в першій половині ХІХ ст. З’ясовано, що матеріали метеориту зберігалися в багатьох приватних та наукових колекціях світу. У докосмічну епоху дослідження «Жигайлівки», як багатьох інших метеоритів, вплинуло на розвиток планетології та підтвердило тезу про єдність матерії Всесвіту. |
| Description: | On the basis of archival data, the circumstances of the observation, discovery and further research of the Zhigaylivka meteorite are revealed. It was established that in the period between 1787 (the date of the fall of the meteorite) and 1804 (the date of the start of the study of the "thunder stone"), the meteorite was kept in a private collection, and later its parts were studied (weighing, identification of chemical composition, physical properties) by scientists of the Academy of Sciences in St. Petersburg , as well as professors of Kharkiv University, which was reflected in a number of scientific publications as early as the first half of the 19th century. It was found that the materials of the meteorite were stored in many private and scientific collections of the world. In the pre-cosmic era, the study of "Zhygaylivka", like many other meteorites, influenced the development of planetary science and confirmed the thesis about the unity of the matter of the universe. |
