The Reform and Innovation of University Library Administration

Abstract

The rise of the knowledge economy and the rapid development of information resource networking present new opportunities and challenges for university library management in China. This paper explores management reform and innovation in university libraries, focusing on the theory of management innovation, using Yantai Nanshan University Library as a case study. The goal is to offer practical insights and recommendations for improving library management. The qualification work consists of three parts. The first part introduces the concept of library management, reviewing definitions from various experts and scholars. It analyzes the current status of Chinese university library management, focusing on management systems, policies, and methods, and highlights the need for innovation. The second part examines the external and internal environments of university libraries. The third part explores the meaning and characteristics of management innovation in university libraries and discusses the direction and methods for implementing innovation. The theoretical significance of this paper lies in its application of modern management theories to library management. It aims to contribute to the deeper study of library management innovation by proposing the establishment of a learning organization and a theoretical framework adapted to the new environment. The practical significance lies in the innovative measures proposed for improving the functioning of university libraries, helping them better serve educational institutions.
