Intercultural communication as a requisite component of international students’ language training

Abstract

The paper deals with the peculiarities of the formation of the readiness of international students for intercultural communication in the process of studying Ukrainian language. It is noted that the priority task is to teach the Ukrainian language to international students through the involvement of cultural material and the formation of skills that would allow them to easily adapt to the new socio-cultural environment, to function successfully in the personal and professional spheres. As a result of the research it was found out that it is necessary to organize educational activities that would ensure their socialization, to increase the share of collective and group work of international students during Ukrainian language study; to give preference to non-traditional forms of organization of classes; to improve various forms, methods, techniques and teaching aids; to use effective teaching methods that promote knowledge of a foreign language culture, the formation of intercultural skills, such as: role-playing and business games, the method of cultural capsules, the method of projects, etc. У роботі розглядаються особливості формування готовності іноземних студентів до міжкультурного спілкування в процесі вивчення української мови. Зазначається, що пріоритетним завданням є викладання української мови іноземним студентам шляхом залучення культурного матеріалу та формування навичок, які дозволять їм легко адаптуватися до нового соціально-культурного середовища, успішно функціонувати в професійній сфері. В результаті дослідження було встановлено, що необхідно організовувати освітні заходи, що забезпечували б їхню соціалізацію, збільшувати частку колективної та групової роботи іноземних студентів під час вивчення української мови; віддавати перевагу нетрадиційним формам організації занять; удосконалювати різні форми, методи, прийоми та засоби навчання; використовувати ефективні методи навчання, що сприяють знанню культури іноземної мови, формуванню міжкультурних навичок, таких як: рольові та ділові ігри, метод культурних капсул, метод проектів тощо.
