dc.description	Corruption can be considered a universal socio-political phenomenon that exists in all societies, constantly manifests itself in new forms, and "adapts" to socio-economic changes. Understanding the processes that took place in the past will ensure the development of effective mechanisms to combat corruption. Considering the fight against corruption from a historical perspective, we cannot ignore the law of ancient Rome. The scientific, theoretical and practical developments of Roman law are of particular importance for both European and world civilization. Despite a number of legislative, organizational and practical measures, the existence of an extensive apparatus of officials, the purchase of positions, and their use for personal enrichment contributed to the flourishing of corruption and the decline of the Roman Empire itself. The experience of Roman law made it possible to formulate moral and ethical standards, to qualify certain types of corruption, and to point out the need for a systematic approach to combating corruption and laying the foundation for anti-corruption research.	uk_UA
dc.description.abstract	Корупцію можна вважати універсальним соціально-політичним явищем, яке існує в усіх суспільствах, постійно проявляється у нових формах, «пристосовується» до соціально-економічних змін. Розуміння процесів, що відбувалися у минулому, забезпечить напрацювання ефективних механізмів і у напрямку боротьби з корупцією. Розглядаючи протидію корупції в історичному аспекті, не можна обійти увагою насамперед право Стародавнього Риму. Науково-теоретичні та практичні напрацювання римського права мають особливе значення як для європейської, так і для світової цивілізації. Не зважаючи на цілу низку законодавчих, організаційних та практичних заходів, існування розгалуженого апарату чиновників, купівля посад, використання їх для особистого збагачення сприяли процвітанню корупції та занепаду самої Римській імперії. Досвід римського права дав можливість сформувати морально-етичні стандарти, кваліфікувати окремі види корупційних проявів, вказав на необхідність системного підходу до боротьби з корупцією, закласти базу для антикорупційних досліджень.	uk_UA
