(Thuja occidentalis L.)
The aim of the study was to investigate the influence of modern phytostimulants
with different chemical compositions on rhizogenesis and adaptation processes of
cuttings of various cultivars of northern white cedar (Thuja occidentalis L.) under
protected cultivation conditions at the Edelweiss Garden Center.
The research established that pre-planting treatment with growth regulators
significantly accelerates the rooting process of cuttings. The highest efficiency was
demonstrated by Rhizopon AA, which reduced the period of root primordia formation
by 15–16 days (29–31%) compared to the control. All studied growth stimulants positively affected the development of the root
system. The highest number of roots (4.6–4.8 per cutting) and the greatest root length
(4.6–5.8 cm) were obtained in the variants treated with Rhizopon AA. The survival rate
of cuttings depended both on the applied stimulant and cultivar characteristics. The
cultivar ‘Smaragd’ showed the best results, with a survival rate of up to 68%, whereas
the cultivar ‘Danica’ demonstrated lower values (up to 56%). To improve the efficiency of green cutting propagation of Thuja occidentalis under the conditions of the Edelweiss Garden Center, the use of auxin-based preparations, particularly Rhizopon AA and Kornevin Grandis, is recommended.
Heteroauxin proved to be less effective and is therefore not recommended for intensive
commercial propagation of the studied cultivars.
