Linguistic features of the lexeme spoon in textual and contextual aspects of discourse

Abstract

The article underline the fact, that for a person in extreme life circumstances, everything related to the nomination of food and the process of its consumption is relevant. Therefore, ordinary cutlery such as a spoon acquires additional value, becoming an indispensable tool for eating food in liquid form and a symbol, a kind of talisman, which they always carried with. A choice of the discourse for analysis is due to the specifics of describing a human life in detention, when the primary adaptive needs prevail all others and become the most valuable. The use of colloquial vocabulary, grammatical norms violation, as well as figurative comparisons and transformed phraseological units in the contexts determine peculiarities of the verbal explication of the concept «spoon». The contexts with the word “spoon” are under research, providing data of explanatory and phraseological dictionaries in order to show the symbolism and figurativeness this word acquires in the analyzed discourse. У статті підкреслюється той факт, що для людини, яка переживає екстремальні життєві обставини, актуальним є все, що пов’язане з номінацією їжі та процесом її споживання. Тому звичайні столові приладдя, такі як ложка, набувають додаткової цінності, стаючи незамінним інструментом для вживання їжі в рідкій формі та символом, своєрідним оберегом, який вони завжди носили з собою. Вибір дискурсу для аналізу зумовлений специфікою опису людського життя в ув'язненні, коли первинні адаптаційні потреби переважають усі інші і стають найціннішими. Використання розмовної лексики, порушення граматичних норм, а також образне порівняння та трансформовані фразеологічні одиниці в контексті визначають особливості словесного тлумачення поняття «ложка». Контексти зі словом “ложка” досліджуються, надаючи дані тлумачних та фразеологічних словників, щоб показати символічність та образність цього слова в аналізованому дискурсі.
